Private boat charter from the shores of Loch Aline

Ardtornish is beautifully placed for a day exploring the coastline and islands of West Scotland; whether it’s a trip to see the famous hexagonal basalt columns at Fingal’s Cave, a stop-off for lunch at the pretty fishing village of Port Appin or trying to catch a glimpse of the sea eagles near the remote island of Lismore, there are endless bucket-list destinations accessible from the shores of Loch Aline, right on our doorstep.

If you wish to take a boat trip during your stay at Ardtornish, we highly recommend Coastal Connections, an Oban based company offering Boat Charter for up to 12 people from the pontoons at Lochaline. Skippers Cameron and Struan have been driving the 11 metre RIB vessels since the age of 15 and have been all over the West Coast, meaning they are absolutely in the know when it comes to exploring our local coastline and the breathtaking islands of West Coast Scotland.

Coastal Connections have recommended a selection of trips for a day out on the water from Morvern, which we have listed below; if you had something else in mind then just let them know as they always welcome requests for new adventures.

  • Lismore Island – a trip around the island of Lismore in search of wildlife such as sea eagles, deer, porpoise and a variety of seabirds. Views of Lismore lighthouse and Duart Castle . 10:00 – 13:00. Approximately £550.
