On a Wing and a Prayer – doing something in the hope that you will succeed despite being insufficiently prepared. Taking this figure of speech as a starting point for humankind’s approach to the climate crisis, Nordic Viola enters into musical conversation with Lochaline composer, Lisa Robertson.
Together they explore Morvern’s rainforests and the community’s relationship to the land, drawing on its power and resources whilst working in harmony with nature. From coast to mountain via stream and woodland, they explore a range of emotions from the bleakness of habitat loss through the teeming life of the rainforest and towards the hope of a more harmonious existence between humankind and nature.
In a blend of instrumental and natural sound with poetic fragments, Lisa Robertson and Nordic Viola create a unique and reflective soundscape for string trio.
In the wonderful surrounds of Drimnin Chapel on the Morvern Peninsula, audiences will have the opportunity to explore the surrounding woodlands and to meet the performers and composer before and after the show to share their own experiences of our nature and environment. Refreshments will be available.
In case of interest, there is a podcast with Lisa Robertson and Katherine Wren about the week they spent in Morvern earlier in the year: Listen to On A Wing and A Prayer – Morvern Podcast with Lisa Robertson by Kath on #SoundCloud https://on.soundcloud.com/MCBvs
We look forward to seeing you on 27 July.
With best wishes
