Who is the Whole Environment Green Leaders retreat for?

This retreat is designed to bring leaders from across the green sphere – for example, policy, science, tech, finance, environmentalism and conservation, finance, media and PR – into one interdisciplinary conversation about current challenges.

Leadership positions may include CEOs, entrepreneurs, directors of ESG, and consultants leading interventions with organisations.

This retreat will be of interest if you, or your organisation:

  • Are looking to recharge your Green purpose and gain fresh perspective on current challenges.

  • Want space to work in depth on current challenges with other Green leaders in a psychologically informed group.

  • Would like to explore collaborations with like-minded peers, and maximise your impact in the Green sphere.

How does the Whole Environment Green Leaders Retreat work?

We take care to assemble leaders from a range of sectors, whose diverse professional perspectives act as a key group resource. We curate pioneering Green thought leadership, and facilitate a confidential experiential group process that draws on our ‘Whole Environment’ approach to leadership development.

This combination of head and heart learning introduces delegates to fresh perspectives, helps them see under the surface of current challenges, discover the ‘Whole Environment’ forces that drive both obstacles and opportunities, and maximise their impact in the Green space.

Over the course of 3 days and nights, the retreat includes:

  • Keynote presentation: cutting edge Green thought leadership by award-winning sustainable business author, John Grant.

  • Green spectrum think tank: joining together in one multi-discipline conversation.

  • Developing leadership capability: experiential group process designed for Green leaders to explore the forces that inform their situation.

  • Case study presentation: Hugh Raven presents Ardtornish’s hydro-electric initiatives and current operational challenges.

  • Challenge workshop: psychologically facilitated space for Green leaders to get under the surface of current challenges.

  • Formal and informal spaces for cross-discipline networking and peer support: campfire and round table meetings, connecting leaders from across the Green sphere.

  • Activities in extraordinary natural setting: connect with the natural world, visit Ardtornish’s hydro-electric initiatives, hands-on planting and felling, hiking and swimming. This strand is multi-purpose: part decompression, part inspiration, part working in concert with our leadership development process.

What is Whole Environment Thinking?

‘Whole Environment’ thinking sees and works with the rational and emotional forces informing any situation. Using our experience in psychology and leadership development, systems dynamics and narrative theory, we take leaders, teams and organisations through an immersive process, identifying all of the forces that shape their situation.

Our deep-level, group-based learning helps leaders and teams to work with both the visible ‘above surface environment’, including strategic goals and corporate processes, and the invisible ‘below surface environment’, including emotions, corporate culture, deeply-held assumptions and limiting beliefs.

Bringing together ‘above’ and ‘below’ environments and working with them as one ‘Whole Environment’, breaks through barriers, brings about profound change, and aligns thinking with the way that nature actually works.

What outcomes can you expect from the Whole Environment Green Leaders Retreat?

This retreat has been designed to give Green leaders much-needed space and time to reflect on challenges in depth with peers from across the Green sphere. You will be introduced to a way of thinking that is aligned with the way that nature works. At times, this may be emotionally and physically challenging, but above all, an adventure that will:

  • Deepen your understanding of the Whole Environment forces that underpin your current challenges.

  • Develop your insight into the causes of obstacles and the conditions needed to unlock opportunities.

  • Recharge your Green purpose, and maximise your impact in the Green sphere.
